Know Before You Go:
- This hike is a leg burner but the views from the top are absolutely worth the intense effort to get here.
- One of only a few opportunities to see Lake Diablo from above as well as Ross Lake.
- The lookout point offers 360 mountain views as far as the eye can see.
- Incredible wildflower displays appear once you reach the higher, more exposed portions of the trail.
- The route is extremely well defined and easy to follow.
- Poles may be helpful since the trail grade is steep most of the way - and be sure to wear boots with good traction.
- You can find snow patches here fairly late into the season so micro spikes may also come in handy.
- Bring many layers and rain gear just in case, the weather conditions can change very quickly at the top.
- Camping is only allowed at the designated campsite along the trail and requires a pre-reserved permit which you can get at recreation.gov.
- Dogs are not allowed.
