Know Before You Go:
- Additional overnight permits are required year-round.
- This trail takes you directly to the base of Mount Olympus and Blue Glacier.
- We recommend setting up camp at Elk Lake or earlier to avoid traversing the ladder portion of the trail with full packs!
- Bear canisters are required here and bear sightings are frequent in peak season.
- This trail can be done in as few as 2.5 days or at a more leisurely 5 day pace. The beginning portion also makes a great day hike along the river.
- This trail can become quite muddy during the rainy season.
