Know Before You Go:
- Drive up for sunrise or sunset for beautiful colors (if the volcano is not erupting!) 
- Bring lots of water and many layers as you'll be at 13,000 feet; altitude sickness is common. 
- If you need, restrooms are available at the Visitor Center. 
- This is the tallest mountain in the Hawaiian Chain. 
- Check out Lake Waiau for a quick hike to an alpine lake.
