Know Before You Go:
- This hike is a straight climb up from the parking lot, but the views at the top are more than worth the effort.
- Wear your sturdiest shoes with the most traction, some sections are quite steep and require navigating many rocks and tree roots.
- The last section of the hike requires a slight bit of scrambling - nothing technical, just take your time and choose your footing carefully, especially if carrying weight. There are several routes up, choose whichever feels the most secure to you.
- Be sure to head up to the tarn just past Wedgemount for even better views and an up close look at the glacier.
- Bears are very active in this area so be alert.
- A permit is required to camp overnight here and can be reserved two months ahead at bcparks.ca.
- Bring your own TP - the trailhead and campsite are not well serviced.
- The trail is really well marked; just follow the orange diamonds.
- This hike gets extremely crowded with day hikers, especially on weekends, so arrive early - the lot does fill up.
